When to Book a Professional Mouse Exterminator

Most London homes need 2–3 visits, usually scheduled around 2 weeks apart, depending on the level of infestation. A 3-month guarantee is available with treatment plans - if mice are still active after treatment, we come back and treat again for free.

Seeing one mouse can be a sign of a larger problem. If you keep finding droppings, hear scratching at night or discover chewed food packaging, a professional inspection can help establish the extent of the infestation. Mice can also damage insulation and electrical wiring, creating potential fire risks.

Book a mouse exterminator if:

  • Droppings keep appearing: You find fresh droppings in several rooms or after cleaning.
  • You hear scratching at night: Mice may be active inside walls, ceilings or under floorboards.
  • You find gnawed cables or packaging: Get the damage assessed and the infestation investigated.
  • DIY traps aren’t working: Mice continue to appear despite your efforts.
  • You have children or pets: You want a professional to assess the safest approach to treatment.
  • You manage a rental property: You need the infestation assessed and the next steps clearly explained.

If you’ve seen just one mouse and want to try DIY methods first, read our guide on how to get rid of mice. Not sure whether you have an infestation? Check these signs of mice in the house.

For longer-term prevention, explore our mouse-proofing service, which has a separate 1-year guarantee.

Mice Control FAQs

Do your mice control prices include VAT?
Yes. All prices include VAT. Mice control starts at £184 for a 1-bedroom home, covering an initial visit and one follow-up. The only extras are £60 for night appointments (19:00-08:30), and parking or congestion charges where they apply. Prices shown are for homes inside the M25.
Can a mouse exterminator come today or at night?
Yes. We offer same-day visits across London when slots are available, and our technicians work evenings and nights too. Call 020 3746 2723 or book online to see today’s availability in your area.
Is it worth getting an exterminator for mice?
Usually, yes, once you’ve seen more than one sign. Mice breed fast, nest out of sight and travel through wall cavities, so DIY traps often catch a few while the rest of the colony carries on. A professional finds the nest and entry points, treats the whole run and seals the gaps, so the problem doesn’t keep coming back.
What should I do before the technician arrives?
Clear access to the areas where you’ve seen activity: under the sink, kitchen cupboards, the loft hatch and behind appliances. Don’t clean up droppings beforehand, because they help your technician trace where mice are travelling. Store food in sealed containers, and keep pets in another room during the visit.
Do I need to leave home during mouse treatment?
No. Mouse treatment uses traps and lockable bait stations, not sprays or fumigation, so you can stay home throughout. Your technician will show you where everything has been placed and explain what not to touch. Most visits take 30–60 minutes, depending on the size of your property.
Is your mouse treatment safe for children and pets?
Yes, when the technician’s advice is followed. Bait is kept inside lockable, tamper-resistant stations placed out of reach of children and pets. Traps go along mouse runs behind units and in voids, away from living areas. Your technician will explain where everything is so your family can avoid those spots.
How soon will the mice be gone?
Most London homes see activity drop within one to two weeks. Full clearance usually takes 2–3 visits, spaced about two weeks apart. How quickly it works depends on how established the mice are and how fast entry points are sealed. Proofing the gaps is what stops new mice moving in.
What does the 3-month guarantee cover?
If mice are still active within three months of your treatment, we come back and treat again at no extra cost. The guarantee applies to our 3-month and Premium plans, as long as you follow your technician’s advice on food storage and access.
Is my landlord responsible for getting rid of mice?
Often, yes, but it depends on the cause. Landlords usually pay when mice get in through gaps, damage or disrepair in the building. Tenants may be responsible if the infestation comes from how the home is kept. Check your tenancy agreement, tell your landlord in writing, and we can provide a treatment report for both of you.
Will you remove dead mice?
Yes. On every follow-up visit your technician clears trapped mice and disposes of them safely, at no extra cost. If a mouse dies somewhere you can’t reach, such as under floorboards, inside a wall or in the loft, our dead rodent removal service finds and removes it and treats the area so the smell doesn’t linger.
